Italian Assistance Project for W.S. & S.W.M. in 16 Towns
A project
for “Water Supply & Solid Waste Management in 16 selected towns of West
Bengal” for a project cost of Rs.154 crores under Italian Assistance has
already been approved. On 10th January, 2006, Government of India and
Italian Government have signed the Memorandum of Agreement (Note Verbale)
and the Financial Convention for a tied Bilateral Assistance.

Process of selection of agency for preparing DPR is under process.

Note :
# 1. Source of water for three towns Purulia,
Bankura & Jhalda will be available from river bed infiltration. For
other 13 towns ground water will be utilized.
# 2. Time of completion is 36 months. Design has been carried out on the
basis of demand of the concerned ULBs as in the year 2021.
# 3. A maximum of 75% of the total amount of the soft loan can be used
to cover local costs.
