PROJECT COMPONENTS :
A. Water Supply
In all the 16 ULBs, the water supply distribution scheme envisages the
following main components:

52 concrete overhead reservoirs with a capacity
ranging from 450 to 675 cu.m

Iron elimination plants in 3 ULBs (Jhargram,
Jalpaiguri & Dinhata), where the chemical analysis was available, The
necessity of iron elimination plants in the other ULBs will be
considered on the basis of the chemical analysis which will be supplied
by MED as soon as possible.

Distribution networks (diameter of pipe lines
ranging from 100mm to 400 mm) with an estimated uncovered area of 60
sq.m.
The total cost of the water supply systems for the 16 ULBs, to be
covered by the soft loan has been roughly estimated to be Rs. 1235
Million (Rs. 123.5 crores).
B. Solid Waste Management
The Solid Waste Management concerns all the 16 selected ULBs.
Taking into account the total amount of the soft loan and the estimated
cost of the water supply system, the Indian side has indicated the
following priorities for the Solid Waste Management:

Improvement of the collecting system

Treatment of the hospital wastes

Preparation of pilot sanitary fields

Construction of pilot compost plants in Bankura and Jalpaiguri
Total cost of the project – Rs. 305 Million (Rs. 30.5 crores)
